Epygi Technologies Helps Non-Profit Organization Provide Drug Prevention Programs by Reducing Costs and Increasing Productivity

To Address Fiscal Prudence, Centros de Integración Juvenil (CIJ) choose Epygi's Easy-to-Use, Cost-Effective Solutions for Critical Communications Services and Excellent Customer Service

Founded in 1969, Centros de Integración Juvenil (CIJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and scientific investigation of drug consumption in Mexico.

CIJ’s Telecommunication Needs

CIJ has a national service network of 110 centers as follows:
• Ninety eight centers that provide outpatient consultation and treatment located in high risk areas of drug consumption in the entire country.
• Ten centers for in-home treatment in: Baja, California; Chiapas, Mexico; Mexico City, Mexico; Guerrero, Mexico; Nuevo León, Mexico; Sinaloa, Mexico; Zacatecas, Mexico; and two locations in Jalisco, Mexico.
• Two heroin treatment clinics located in Baja, California, and Chihuahua, Mexico.

Consider smaller, more cost effective vendors such as Epygi instead of the big names. Not only are the big names more expensive, but their future is uncertain, for example the bankruptcy filing of Nortel in January. Given the market pressures, other big names may also be affected and, as they restructure to resolve their issues, product lines may be eliminated. Smaller vendors must rely on the quality of their products and their customer service to weather the times, while still maintaining lower prices for their customers.

With over 1,300 mental health professionals, who are supported by more than 6,000 volunteers, CIJ is able to serve over 3.5 million people annually in preventive programs as well as treat 70,000 patients and their families.

There are five central office buildings of which only two of them had a voice and data infrastructure. The other three and all other locations only had local analog telephone lines and Internet access via ADSL or dial-up.

This presented a limitation to the operations and the management teams, who required a telephone system that would provide the following benefits:
• Central administration and better use of the IT resources
• Allow for remote technical support
• Use IP for voice and data communications
• IT security
• Use of E-learning, video and conferencing capabilities
• Access to Internet and telephone services
• Economies of scale

Epygi Technologies is the Best Fit

After much research and testing of different VoIP systems available, the Technical Department of CIJ concluded that the best solution that met their needs was the Epygi Quadro line, which provided the best quality, price, functionality and manufacture support.

The large scale implementation of the Quadros was done in two steps in 2007 and 2008 with the following procured in 2007:
• For the central locations, the QuadroE1/TI Gateway was integrated with an E1 card for the existing NEC PBX.
• For the remote locations, twenty seven Quadro4X IP PBXs were purchased with another 75 Quadro4Xs to be installed on the second phase in 2008.

All of the Quadros were installed by Cibernética y Electrónica, S.A. de C.V. in Mexico and distributed by Tekmart, Epygi’s authorized distributor in Mexico.
