Case in Point

Canoas, Brazil Adopts a Digital City Project

The “Digital City” project created a common phone system for the city’s municipal departments that have made immense improvements to the citizens’ services for education and healthcare.

Canoas The city of Canoas, located in Rio Grande do Sol, is made up of 115 public service sites, consisting of 70 schools and 40 health departments, and had a growing need to connect all of the municipal buildings under one integrated, high-speed, voice and date communication network. The “Digital City” project developed by Damovo Brazil now allows the municipal health services and schools to take advantage of a modern infrastructure that is rapid, flexible and secure, assuring reliable communications.

All schools and health services have been equipped with Epygi’s Quadro IP PBXs and connected with the main site and other network sites with the SIP protocol. The city hall of Canoas now has an IP telephony system that carries no costs for calls within their network.

“It has been a great improvement for our city,” said Secretary for the Canoas’ Municipal Management and Modernization. “This project has been possible, because there was perfect commitment between the city mayor and the secretaries with improvements in citizens’ services for education and health.” Canoas now has a working wireless network that covers the entire administration network, interconnecting them for IP telephony and video calls.
