Default Setting up a Extension

Hi guys,

I'm new to settnig up PBX's and need a little help setting up extensions. I've got the Epygi on our network, I've setup it's IP and can connect and change settings. Now I just am having trouble setting up the extensions.

I'll toss out a few questions I have below, thanks for reading.
1) Under Sip Registration: Why does the server say Sip. Epygi.com? Should it not point to the PBX?

2) Is there a step by step guide for newbies like myself to setting up Extensions?

3) We have a few Sip Trunks assigned to our from various partners for testing. Where would I input this information? I thought it would be Sip Tunnel Settings, however all I get is Master/Slave devices so I think this is for setting up more than on PBX to work together.

Thanks for your time.

I think I need to write a Quadro Basics book so that people can pick it up and view it. and follow it from go to woe to end up with a telephone system that allows them to make and receive calls ..

Unless the Epygi guys have done it - with pictures perhaps **cough** David **cough**

KSComs that would be unbelieveably awesome. I've read through the documentation but unfortunately it's not the best written manual I've read before. No where does it say "Follow those steps to setup a extension" Which would be great.

Being new to this certainly doesn't help much.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Well, you have to figure many things yourself, looking at the GUI and playing with the device - also reading the forum, maybe...
We can answer specific questions here, but it would be difficult to write a full guidance (unless Kevin is ready to do that... Kevin, I am pretty sure your talents allow to write very good introduction to Quadro, you just need to spend a little bit of your time... maybe we will develop a pair of new features for you in return ).

Answering to specific questions:

1) Under Sip Registration: Why does the server say Sip. Epygi.com? Should it not point to the PBX?

Theoretically each extension could have its own sip server (with its own SIP/ITSP account etc). In practice however users most often use just one/tow accounts for all extensions. In that case the "SIP Registration" filed on each extension is not useful to you. When you install ITSP account using the "VoIP Carrier Wizard" (see below), it automatically will add one more *virtual* extension (with your ITSP account set there), and its SIP settings will be used by all others.

2) Is there a step by step guide for newbies like myself to setting up Extensions?

I guess - no. Unfortunately currently the manuals are stuctured another way, and there is no step by step guide. Unless Kevin writes one.

3) We have a few Sip Trunks assigned to our from various partners for testing. Where would I input this information? I thought it would be Sip Tunnel Settings, however all I get is Master/Slave devices so I think this is for setting up more than on PBX to work together.

Install those SIP trunks using the "Telephony"->"VoIP Carrier Wizard" GUI.

Best regards,
David

Thanks for your replies. I've got the Epygi working now, more or less. Now I'm just setting up the more advanced features. Looking for how people got vTiger working with it.
