Post Hold Music file types, sample rates, file size

I have just installed a Quadro2x.

I want to change the on hold music.
Am I correct to believe that only .wav files are acceptable?
Is there any option for .mp3 files?
Also what is the best sample rate for the file?
What is the maximum file size?

Thanks

The characteristics for the format of all Quadro voice messages should be: CCITT A/mu-Law (PCMU), and the attributes are 8,000 Hz; 8/16 Bit; Mono. You can use Windows standard Sound Recorder for messages recording and converting.

There is no option for MP3 support.

Files larger than 7.6 MB cannot be uploaded to Quadro via GUI because of technical reasons. HTTP error 413 will be shown in that case. Hold Music size is limited only by this limitation and user space percentage.

Unhappy no luck with suggestion

I have tried to upload a PCM 8bit mono but still get
"Error: Invalid audio file, or format is not supported"

The vista sound recorder does not let you open sound files and I have not been able to save the right format in Goldwave

Any suggestions?

Hi, the Windows PCM format is not the one you need. Just select CCITT A/mu-Law format when recording voice messages for Quadro using Windows Sound Recorder.

If that is really PCM, it will not work. You should make sure it is a PCMU (G.711 mu-law) or PCMA (G.711 a-law). Also make sure it is 8 KHz (8000 Hz).
I am not familiar with Goldwave, but Cooledit (Adobe Audition) is able to save in needed format.

G711, 8 bit, 8 khz mono is the right format as mentioned above.... you can use recorder within windows but.... also mentioned are the best of the lot or send your file to a recording house to convert it for you...

The confusing part here is the codec's name. CCITT A/mu-Law, PCMU/PCMA (not mix with Win PCM), G.711 are the different names of the same codec.

Ahhh I see.. but CCITT is the codec I use. Well that is what I have used in the past at 8khz, 8 bit, mono for the file.
