"No Work Today" annoucement

Hi folks, I am trying to figure out a way to setup a message for employees that call in to determine if the plant will be open on a particular day. For example, tomorrow there will be inclement weather and I want to record a message that we are closed for the day. The message would be updated almost daily. Initial thoughts were to create a virtual extension and have the VM greeting make the annoucement but I think the maintenance on that would be difficult since I will not have a phone connected to it.

Any suggestions?

Well, the maintenance will not be difficult too much if you use VM greeting. You can update the greeting on that virtual extension from any phone or even from outside, if you call to your deafult Autoattendant ("00", for example), then dial *0, enter that virtual extension number + # + password + #. So if that is extension "55" with passord "55", you just have to call to AA and enter *055#55# to access the VM menu.

Alternatively, with newer versions of Quadro firmware you can do that even easier, if you use "shared extension" capability. In the "Extension Management"->"Edit"->"Voicemail Settings" page you can list the extensions who can get instant access to that virtual extensions mailbox. After you do that, all you need is to dial *8555# from any of those extensions and you will get the voicemal menu of that virtual extension 55.
