Hot Desking

New Capability: The Hot Desking feature allows sharing the same phone (IP or analogue phone) by many users. Users can login to the Hot Desking phone using their extension number, and get all of the credentials of their extension.

Why It Matters: Certain customer environments have changed with the times and have either employed more remote workers or reduced the office floor space. Commuter offices are more common in today’s work environment and utilizing a feature like Hot Desking simplifies supporting this type of workforce.

Call Recording

New Capability: SIP call recording is available on the QuadroM32x and can be stored locally or on a remote server.

Why It Matters: A powerful feature allowing the system to record all calls made from and to the extensions of the PBX. This lets a company record selected calls both automatically and by special request from the web GUI or directly from the phone. The recordings could be either stored on the device itself (and be reviewed on the device) or be uploaded to external file storage for further processing.

Epygi Unifies Separate Office Locations into a Cohesive Organization

América Television supports the largest television audience in Peru and is committed to offering the highest quality programming. In December 2008, the commercial television pioneer celebrated its 50 year anniversary of servicing the community with accurate media information, while continuing to set new standards for television. América Television remains committed to offering family programming, in addition to bring new ideas and creativity to their programming. América Television took these same initiatives while they searched for a new communications system that would allow all of their locations to be unified.

The Need to Tie All Locations into a Unified Front

Based in Lima, Peru, the television station was faced with eight regional offices that worked independently of one another. The organization had delivered its services with employees working out of regional offices that relied on outdated phone systems that were not integrated. There was no single number callers could use to reach anyone in the organization, office lines were often busy, and the organization incurred long distance charges when calling across area codes.

With the help of its distribution partner, CLAdirect, Epygi provided the organization with eight of its Quadro2xs and QuadroFXO gateways for all of its sites. Currently, the main location of América Television has a QuadroM32X installed with the added conference bridge feature and is linked to the existing Nortel PBX with an E1 trunk which remains to support existing extensions. The Epygi deployment has turned separate locations into a cohesive organization with a centralized telephone system.

Epygi’s Quadro Configuration Console (QCC) is a desktop application management interface allowing América Television the ability to do mass changes across all of the remote locations, such as configuration restores, back-ups and surgical changes. Additionally, the Quadros include a full SNMP MIBs library detecting any alarms on the units. Each location can be managed by a web-based GUI that provides América Television with easy access to the system from anywhere on the network, enabling the management of every site, including voicemail, automated attendant and the addition of other extensions.

Employee Productivity Enhanced

Epygi systems are easy to use, simple to manage, flexible, and reliable. With the Quadros in place, all employees are now on an integrated phone and voicemail system, using a unified dialing plan to reach employees at any location. The least-cost routing capabilities also allow the organization to minimize costs by avoiding toll charges. Additionally, all of the employees are able to access the voice conferencing feature. Most importantly, the telephone system has the ability to add more IP phones to it with the addition of more employees.
