VoIP Trending Upward in Europe and North America
Conferences paint a brightening picture for VoIP solution providers to the SMB market

VoIP solutions are gaining an even firmer foothold in the SMB market as indicated in year-end reports and early first quarter observations. US revenues in this segment hit the billion dollar mark for the first time. Observers contribute this growing demand to the increased availability of broadband connectivity and better distribution channels for VoIP products.

Mario Cuello, president and CEO of Epygi Technologies commented, “The SMB market has not only become more aware of VoIP as a communications choice, but they have come to recognize its real value in providing features formerly only available to big enterprise.”

International markets have their own distinct approach to VoIP and the role it plays in their businesses practices. Nick Service, Director of Marketing for Salesforce Europe, a company that specializes in promoting VoIP telephony channels just returned from the 2008 CeBIT Conference.

“In Germany, VoIP solutions are becoming more accepted by home users,” he said, “but small companies in this country tend to be more conservative regarding changes in business operations.”

“Early adopters will be looking for a solution that is not only extremely reliable but packed with extra features.” Service reported that small businesses in Scandinavian countries are ahead of most of Europe in the adoption of VoIP technology.
“Mexico’s SMB market for VoIP is emerging” reports Warren Sonnen, Marketing Director for Epygi Technologies. Sonnen attended the VON IP Communications Conference in that country. “The fact that the show was in Mexico City indicates an increased interest In IP telephony in Latin America.”

Bringing Clarity to the Sound of VoIP
Voice quality in VoIP telephony is not only better than you think, it may be better than traditional phone lines

myth

Myth: "The sound quality on an IP connection stinks."

Fact: Depending on the codec or compression program for voice converted to data on your system, sound quality can be significantly better than that of traditional telephony.

Where traditional analog telephones transmitted sound as electrical waves, VoIP samples your voice hundreds of times per second and transmits the information digitally. It's possible with the right decompression and sound reproduction equipment to approach the sound available on MP3 or CD players.

The voice quality you get through a quality digital signal processor (DSP, see Epygi Quadro IP PBX) is almost always better than that of conventional long distance calls.

Conclusion: Using the proper equipment can greatly increase your satisfaction with voice quality while giving you features that your old phone lines never had.
