New QX-DFXS Gateways Expand Epygi’s Gateway Portfolio

Epygi is expanding its gateway portfolio with the new QX-DFXS family, giving businesses greater flexibility to connect existing analog phones, fax machines, and legacy PBX equipment to modern SIP/IP networks. Available in 4-, 8-, 16-, and 24-port models, the QX-DFXS gateways seamlessly integrate analog devices with Epygi QX and UC-line IP PBXs. With auto-configuration and Fax over IP (FoIP) support, they bring advanced IP communication capabilities to the devices businesses already rely on.

Why is this useful? Businesses can extend the life of their existing analog equipment while gaining access to modern IP-PBX features—making the transition to IP communications simpler, more flexible, and cost-effective.

Keep your existing equipment. Upgrade your communications.Whether you’re expanding a call center, modernizing an SMB, or connecting multiple locations, the QX-DFXS family provides a flexible and affordable way to extend your IP phone system.

One Identity, Multiple Devices

Epygi’s Parent-Child Extension feature adds intelligence and flexibility to call management by allowing designated extensions to operate as a unified group. When an incoming call arrives, both the parent and child extensions ring simultaneously, improving response times and reducing missed calls.

This configuration allows users to answer calls from any linked device while maintaining privacy — child extensions remain invisible to external callers. For outbound calls, the parent extension’s caller ID and name are presented, ensuring a consistent and professional company identity.

This feature is particularly valuable for hybrid work environments and executive offices. For example, a manager can configure their desk phone as the Parent and their home office phone or mobile softphone as the Child. Whether working on-site or remotely, they can answer calls seamlessly without sharing personal contact details.

It is also ideal for warehouse and retail environments, where a main office extension can be linked to multiple cordless handsets across the floor, ensuring staff remain reachable and responsive at all times.

Enable Provisioning Authentication

When “Enable Provisioning Authentication” is activated in the IP Line General Settings, it adds an extra layer of security by verifying the QX administrator’s identity with the IP phone provisioning server.

The verification happens during the configuration of the IP Line using a pre-set username and password available in the IP Lines Settings. This ensures that only authorized administrators can configure IP lines on the QX IP PBXs, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access.

By enforcing identity verification, administrators can maintain full oversight over IP line configurations, preventing accidental or malicious changes. This is especially crucial for organizations that operate in industries where regulatory compliance and data protection are critical. By ensuring that only verified personnel can make configuration changes, this feature helps maintain system integrity, ensuring trust in the communication infrastructure.
